Membership Information!

Go to the “Membership” section of our website, read about the levels of play we offer and complete our online survey. Once we’ve received your survey, we’ll put you on our e-mail list. You’ll then be notified when registration is open for fall and winter play. The WFHA accepts new members only during the fall and winter (if we have room) seasons. See you on the field!

We are anxious to begin our 83rd year offering playing opportunities to field hockey players of all skill levels in the Washington area. We remain committed to our vision of serving the local field hockey community through participation in youth clinics/leagues and to providing fun and competitive play opportunities to the adults in our association.

Summer play at University of Maryland & George Mason Univeristy turf fields
Summer league will begin this Sunday, June 10th from 6-8 pm at Univeristy of Maryland.
The six playdates are

6/10 6-8 pm         Univ. of Maryland
7/1    4-6 pm         George Mason Univ.
7/8    4-6 pm         George Mason Univ.
7/22 3-5 pm         Univ. of Maryland
8/5    6-8 pm         Univ. of Maryland
8/12   6-8 pm        Univ. of Maryland

2006 Highlights

2006 WHFA Honorary Member Named….November 11, 2006

Longtime WFHA Member Kathleen Jeffery was named 2006 Honorary Member at the Southeast Tournament in Baltimore. Kathleen has been a member of the WFHA since 1986, played for WFHA Association teams for 2 years, and on Club’s Green team for 18 years. Kathleen was also a longtime JV field hockey coach at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD and currently plays forward on the Underdogs club field hockey team. Congratulations Kathleen!

Club Championship: *(many thanks to Jess Chin for getting "real" refs for the tourney!)

1st game: Yellow 2 Red 0; Green 3 Blue 1

consolation: Red 1 Blue 1

Final: Yellow 2 Green 1 (1-1 tie at end of regulation; yellow scored in a 5 min 7v7 overtime for the win)

Southeast Tournament:

1st place: Washington Red!

Washington Black and the Underdogs also participated in the tourney

Honors: Outstanding GK of the tourney: Becky Walenga- Wash (Underdogs)

Frannie Homer Service Award: Marti Carroll, WFHA President

USFHA National FH Festival:

Jane Degrenier, Lee Fineman, Marti Carroll and former WFHA members Kari Kraus and Kelley Hubbell played on the Southeast team over Thanksgiving in Palm Springs, CA
